It has come to our attention that a group representing itself as the Volunteer Firefighters Association and Heroes United is contacting people soliciting funds/donations.

The group is not affiliated with us. They are a political action group raising funds for politics, not for the Waxhaw VFD.

So yall aren't selling advertising for local businesses that go on dry erase boards that yall "hand deliver" to the houses in waxhaw?

We removed a post that listed a member's name as a contact person. That information is false and this company is still not authorized to solicit donations for the Waxhaw Community Vol. Fire Dept and Rescue Squad, Inc.

Waxhaw VFD, along with departments from Wesley Chapel, Mineral Springs, Indian Land and Monroe (Bakers VFD) responded to a large outdoor fire this evening near Helms Road/Hwy 75.

Parts of Hwy 75 and the railroad were both temporarily closed to allow fire crews to work the scene. The fire was contained and extinguished in about 45 minutes. Crews applied a blanket of firefighting foam to prevent reignition.

Waxhaw PD and South Carolina State Police assisted with traffic control. Union EMS arrived to monitor our responders health conditions due to the hot weather.
